RE: King George Power Line: Dominion Proposes "Route C"

Dear Neighbor,

This letter is to advise you that Dominion has filed its application for the "Dahlgren Project" with the State Corporation Commission (SCC). In addition to describing the need for the project, the application includes a proposed route and an alternate route for the new transmission line. These routes can be seen on the enclosed map.

Based on projections for growth at Naval Support Facility (NSF) Dahlgren and in the surrounding community, Dominion's planning team determined that the expected electrical load will exceed the capacity of its distribution system, and will require the construction of a new transmission line (known as the Dahlgren Project). The proposed line will extend from an existing 230 kV transmission line located near Route 3, along new right-of-way within King George County to a new substation facility to be located at NSF Dahlgren.

The SCC has responsibility for determining the need and the route of transmission lines at 138 kV and above in Virginia. Documents related to the case are made available to the public on the SCC Docket Search section of the SCC website, www.scc.virginia.gov. The full application will also be available on Dominion's project website and as a hard copy at the King George County Planning office, 10549 Courthouse Drive, and at the L.E. Smoot Memorial Library's temporary location at 8562 Dahlgren Road.
